Africa-Press – South-Africa. KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has voiced his concerns about how members of Parliament (MPs) have handled evidence presented to them before the ad hoc committee probing police corruption.
On Wednesday, he said members of the ad hoc committee have prejudged many aspects during the last six months of the hearings.
“I’m not a Parliamentarian, so it might be wrong for me to judge proceedings. Indeed, chairperson, I’ve been observing, being worried at times by the posture and the attitude that I see from some of the members of Parliament who seem to prejudge things.
“My understanding is that the committee’s job is to listen to evidence, probe and not make conclusions that certain things are wrong, or certain individuals.”
He did, however, commend the committee for its hard work and the long hours MPs have put in the hearings.
Mkhwanazi returned to the ad hoc committee to give his closing evidence and to respond to allegations against him.
