The visiting Sundowns took the lead in the second minute

when a ball from Themba Zwane found Peter Shalulile, who scored with a low shot

that beat goalkeeper Mohamed Saeed to make it 1-0.

Minutes later, Al-Hilal’s Faris Abdallah passed to Ibrahim

Mustapha who hammered a shot towards the top corner but it was excellently

saved by Downs keeper Reyaad Pieterse.

In the 11th minute, Sundowns were reduced to 10-men when

Brian Onyango was sent off immediately for a dangerous tackle.

Minutes later, Shalulile received the ball from Lesedi

Kapinga following a fast break, but his shot went wide past the right post.

Ibrahim Mustapha, Mohamed Ouattara and Hassan Mutwakil all

tried their luck a little later, but their efforts went wide, while keeper

Pieterse saved the header by Ouattara.

In the 29th minute, Hilal made a change by replacing Safour

with striker Mohamed Yasir.

Then a minute later, Sundowns scored via a Teboho Mokoena

free-kick from nearly 30-yards out, which flew over the ball to beat the keeper

and into the top right corner to make it 2-0.

The teams went in at the half-time break with 10-man

Sundowns leading 2-0 courtesy of goals from Shalulile and Mokoena, despite

Hilal having more shots towards goal.

In the 56th minute, Hilal pulled a goal back when Mohamed

Abdelrahman crossed the ball to Yasir, who scored with a shot in the left

corner to make it 1-2 Sundowns’ favour.

But on 60 minutes, Downs scored their third goal when a

Kapinga pass found Thapelo Morena just outside the box, and he tried a shot,

which beat the keeper to find the back of the net to make it 3-1.

On 72 minutes, Downs brought on Amethyst Ralani and Sibusiso

Vilakazi, who replaced Jali and Shalulile, respectively.

In the 89th minute, Morena scored his second goal of the

game with a shot after receiving a pass from Neo Maema to make it 4-1.

On 90 minutes, Hilal was awarded a penalty for a Pieterse

foul.

Mohamed Abdelrahman took the penalty kick, but Pieterse

saved his effort. However, Osman Mokhtar scored from the rebound to make it 4-2

in the end.
