Africa-Press – South-Africa. Ten-man Mamelodi Sundowns cruised to a 4-2 victory against
Sudan’s Al-Hilal in Group A of the CAF Champions League at the refurbished
Al-Hilal Stadium on Saturday.
The goals were scored for Sundowns by Peter Shalulile,
Teboho Mokoena, and Thapelo Morena’s brace.
The result means that after five games, unbeaten Sundowns
sit in an unassailable position of 13 points in Group A, while Al Ahly sits in
second place on seven points after five games.

The visiting Sundowns took the lead in the second minute
when a ball from Themba Zwane found Peter Shalulile, who scored with a low shot
that beat goalkeeper Mohamed Saeed to make it 1-0.
Minutes later, Al-Hilal’s Faris Abdallah passed to Ibrahim
Mustapha who hammered a shot towards the top corner but it was excellently
saved by Downs keeper Reyaad Pieterse.
In the 11th minute, Sundowns were reduced to 10-men when
Brian Onyango was sent off immediately for a dangerous tackle.
Minutes later, Shalulile received the ball from Lesedi
Kapinga following a fast break, but his shot went wide past the right post.
Ibrahim Mustapha, Mohamed Ouattara and Hassan Mutwakil all
tried their luck a little later, but their efforts went wide, while keeper
Pieterse saved the header by Ouattara.
In the 29th minute, Hilal made a change by replacing Safour
with striker Mohamed Yasir.
Then a minute later, Sundowns scored via a Teboho Mokoena
free-kick from nearly 30-yards out, which flew over the ball to beat the keeper
and into the top right corner to make it 2-0.
The teams went in at the half-time break with 10-man
Sundowns leading 2-0 courtesy of goals from Shalulile and Mokoena, despite
Hilal having more shots towards goal.
In the 56th minute, Hilal pulled a goal back when Mohamed
Abdelrahman crossed the ball to Yasir, who scored with a shot in the left
corner to make it 1-2 Sundowns’ favour.
But on 60 minutes, Downs scored their third goal when a
Kapinga pass found Thapelo Morena just outside the box, and he tried a shot,
which beat the keeper to find the back of the net to make it 3-1.
On 72 minutes, Downs brought on Amethyst Ralani and Sibusiso
Vilakazi, who replaced Jali and Shalulile, respectively.
In the 89th minute, Morena scored his second goal of the
game with a shot after receiving a pass from Neo Maema to make it 4-1.
On 90 minutes, Hilal was awarded a penalty for a Pieterse
foul.
Mohamed Abdelrahman took the penalty kick, but Pieterse
saved his effort. However, Osman Mokhtar scored from the rebound to make it 4-2
in the end.
