Mothibi Promises Higher Conviction Rates as NPA Boss

Africa-Press – South-Africa. Recently appointed National Director of Public Prosecutions Advocate Jan Lekgoa (Andy) Mothibi said he will ensure higher conviction rates during his tenure.

Mothibi joined the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security (JCPS) cluster officials at a ministerial imbizo in Athlone on Tuesday as part of the government’s pre-State of the Nation (SONA) activities.

The engagement forms part of an integrated crime and violence prevention strategy, with a specific focus on gangsterism, murder and gender-based violence in the Western Cape.

Mothibi was appointed just more than a month ago. On Tuesday, he told Athlone residents at a JCPS cluster imbizo that crime and corruption require attention.

“We will make sure we work with the police to ensure that the dockets don’t take too long to be investigated.” Mothibi said thorough investigations will help prosecutors achieve higher conviction rates to put criminals behind bars.
