Africa-Press – South-Africa. With just days to go before the Economic Freedom Fighters’ (EFF) National Elective Conference takes place only those with post-matric qualifications from recognised tertiary institutions will be eligible to serve in the party’s Central Command Team (CCT).
The CCT is the EFF’s highest decision-making body between conferences, consisting of 40 elected members.
With the party’s 3rd National People’s Assembly set to begin on Thursday, its discussion documents have included several proposals to strengthen the Central Command Team.
During the four-day gathering, the EFF will also review its policies and amend its constitution where it feels necessary.
With the EFF’s elective support now at 9%, the party seeks to implement organisational changes to strengthen its position in the political arena.
One of the proposals in its discussion documents is to bar individuals without tertiary qualifications from serving on its CCT.
This requirement was initially highlighted five years ago, likely as an effort to give party members ample time to obtain post-matric qualifications if they wish to be part of the party’s top structure.
The EFF says it’s a measure to ensure CCT members can speak coherently and make well-structured presentations on how to move the party forward.
New CCT members will be elected during the party’s elective conference due to take place at the Nasrec Expo Centre this weekend.
Preparations are currently underway for the biggest National People’s Assembly which will be hosted at NASREC Expo Centre from the 12th of December 2024.
