Africa-Press – South-Africa. Parliament has released the names of members who will serve on the ad hoc committee to investigate allegations of police corruption made by Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema and African National Congress (ANC) chief whip Mdumiseni Ntuli are among the members set to serve on the multi-party committee.
The release of the members of the police ad hoc committee comes a week after the National Assembly adopted the report by a joint justice and police committee that recommended its establishment.
The committee has five ANC members, who include Ntuli as well as Justice and Constitutional Development Committee chair Xola Nqola.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has been allocated four members, including police committee chairperson Ian Cameron, as well as the party’s justice spokesperson, Glynnis Breytenbach.
The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has three members while the EFF has two, with the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), Patriotic Alliance (PA), Freedom Front (FF) Plus and ActionSA all having one seat each.
While Parliament is currently on a month-long recess, the committee is expected to convene during the break, so it can meet its October deadline.
