Africa-Press – South-Africa. KwaZulu-Natal police have confiscated counterfeit goods worth R36 million during a raid on shops owned by foreign nationals.
The operation was carried out in the Point area of Durban on Thursday.
Officers also seized R200,000 in cash.
Police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda said the shops were selling counterfeit items of luxurious brands for years now.
“Police obtained search warrants for several shops which were raided on Thursday, leading to the recovery and seizure of the counterfeit clothing items, watches, and other big brand items.”
Five people have been arrested and are expected to appear in court on Friday.
