Africa-Press – South-Africa. North West police have asked social media users to stop sharing the gruesome video of a man being shot by two assailants who attacked him from behind.

The 49-year-old man was gunned down on Wednesday morning outside a coffee shop in the Rustenburg CBD.

A video circulating on social media, which New24 has seen, captured the murder. It shows the victim standing in front of sets of white tables and chairs, looking at his phone. Two men rush up behind him, firing at almost point-blank range. He collapses after being shot in the head and torso.

According to North West police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, the man had just arrived at the coffee shop when two armed men shot him several times.

Mokgwabone said the two men then fled in a blue Volkswagen Polo. The getaway car was later found abandoned at the corner of Helen Joseph and Lourie streets.

“The motive of the incident is yet to be determined and no arrest has been effected. Investigations into the matter are underway,” he said.

Mokgwabone added:

Anyone with information on the murder is urged to contact the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Keorapetse Ramokgadi, on 078 353 4321, or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
