Africa-Press – South-Africa. President Cyril Ramaphosa has called on women to hold government accountable when it falls short in fulfilling its promises to them.
Ramaphosa spoke during the National Women’s Day commemoration in Tzaneen, Limpopo, on Saturday, which was held under the theme “Building resilient economies for all”.
The president addressed several challenges facing women in the country, including the ongoing scourge of gender-based violence and economic inequality.
“I want to say, where we fail, we want the women of our country to rise and come to us and say: ‘You are failing us, you are not doing what we expect you to do to uplift us and to make sure that we have a better life’. I want to conclude by saying, we are committed. I want to say, you have come out in your numbers, and I want to appreciate that.”
