SANTACO Urges Stronger Road Law Enforcement After Crash

Africa-Press – South-Africa. The South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) has called for stronger law enforcement on the roads following a crash in Durban that claimed the lives of 11 people.

On Thursday, a minibus taxi collided with a truck in Isipingo.

A further eight people were injured and rushed to hospital.

While investigations into the cause of the accident continue, SANTACO is urging the public to stop speculating about the cause.

SANTACO’s Sifiso Shangase extended his condolences to the victims’ families

“Drivers are encouraged to always adhere to the rules of the road with the current rainy weather conditions. It is critical that drivers exercise extra caution to ensure the safety of passengers and other road users. As an organisation, we discourage overloading. We also remind passengers that they have rights not to port an overloaded vehicle. SANTACO KZN remains committed to promoting road safety and will continue working with relevant stakeholders to prevent further loss of life on our roads.”
