Africa-Press – South-Africa. Eastern Cape authorities are searching for a teenager who was swept over the sea wall while swimming in the tidal pool at Seaview Resorts in Beachview on Christmas Day.

The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) dispatched a rescue craft just after 17:00 after receiving reports about the incident caused by large spring tide waves.

“On arrival at the scene, an extensive search commenced for a 14-year-old male, from Zimbabwe, who had been swept over the tidal pool wall while swimming,” NSRI deputy station commander Jonathan Tufts said on Monday.

“Despite the extensive search, there remains no sign of the teenager. Police divers are continuing the search.”

The Transnet National Ports Authority has broadcast an alert for vessels in the area to be on the lookout.

“A number of chokka fishing vessels close inshore near to the area kept a watch,” said Tufts.
