Africa-Press – South-Africa. KwaZulu-Natal police have arrested a security guard for the alleged murder of two of his female colleagues whose bodies were found in a shallow grave outside the Thembeni crèche in Umgababa on Friday.

Police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda said the women’s bodies were found with their hands tied and plastic bags over their heads.

Zanele Doris Mbuso, 61, and Moni Sophia Xulu, 81, were reported missing on Women’s Day.

Police said information indicated that the two women were last seen in an e-hailing vehicle from their workplace at Thembeni crèche.

“Thorough investigations by the Umkomaas Detectives, Durban Search and Rescue and eThekwini District Task Team pointed the police to a shallow grave just outside the fence of the crèche,” said Netshiunda.

He added that both women had been buried with plastic bags over their heads and their hands tied with a rope.

“The victims’ colleague, who worked as a security guard at the crèche, was arrested for the murders, and he will appear in court soon.”

Renegades Search and Rescue spokesperson Dawn Gounden said ongoing investigations by their team and the police had led them to believe that the security guard was involved with the murders.

She said:

Gounden added that police then followed up on the phone ping, and found the grave outside the creche.
