Africa-Press – South-Africa. Parliament says that all security arrangements are in place for KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi’s appearance before the Ad Hoc Committee investigating his claims of police corruption and interference.

On Friday, the committee received a briefing from Parliament’s Security Services as it prepares for its upcoming hearings with witnesses.

Mkhwanazi will be the first witness when he goes before the committee next Tuesday and Wednesday.

The committee also discussed feedback regarding the participation of alternate members of the committee who are not full members and have no voting rights.

Security around the appearance of Mkhwanazi at Parliament’s Good Hope Chamber was also confirmed by Parliament Security Chief, Sam Shitlabane.

“We have interacted with the province in terms of law enforcement. We are ready, even with the national components that would be supporting us. We can be able to say safely we are ready to resume in terms of security arrangements with the ad hoc committee.”

Evidence leader Advocate Norman Arendse also briefed the committee on the readiness of witnesses, with Mkhwanazi and National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola expected to give evidence over four days next week.
