Africa-Press – South-Africa. One person has been killed and eight others injured after gunmen attacked a cash-in-transit vehicle in the Durban CBD on Tuesday.

Details are still sketchy, but KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said they were assessing the extent of the damage.

“The vehicle then veered off the road and collided into multiple vendors selling items on the side of the road,” he said.

As this was happening, Jamieson said the gunmen randomly opened fire.

“One person, believed to be a shop owner, had sustained a gunshot wound to his head and was declared deceased at the scene,” he added.

Russell Street in Durban, where the incident took place, was closed following the attack.
