Africa-Press – South-Africa. It’s emerged that suspended deputy national police commissioner for crime detection, Shadrack Sibiya, recommended the approval of a submission, last year, for the political killings task team to continue with its work into 2025.
The revelation came from KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who testified before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry probing interference within crime intelligence in the country.
Sibiya was suspended by national police commissioner, Fannie Masemola, on Friday for allegedly undermining the work of the task team.
Mkhwanazi said the task team had received approval for funding until 2026.
“Deputy national commissioner, Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya, he recommended the continued deployment of this team and the funding thereof, as well as the recommendation for the approval of Lieutenant-General Khumalo to be a project leader of this team for a period of 2024/25.”
