SIU obtains preservation order against Pule Mabe's company Enviro Mobi

Africa-Press – South-Africa. The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has secured a preservation order against assets owned by former African National Congress (ANC) spokesperson Pule Mabe’s Enviro Mobi company.

The assets include a house in Johannesburg’s luxurious estate of Steyn City and a Porsche 911.

This is in connection with Mabe’s corruption allegations, involving a R27 million tender that was allegedly awarded to his company irregularly in 2017.

But the SIU, which has been investigating his case, found a property in the luxurious Steyn City estate and a Porsche 911 Carrera GTS.

Out of hundreds of properties on the market at Steyn City, the cheapest EWN could find was a one-bedroom apartment worth R2.2 million.

SIU spokesperson, Kaiser Kganyago, said its investigation uncovered significant irregularities in the awarding of Mabe’s tender.

“Despite payments made to Enviro Mobi, evidence indicates non-compliance with procurement regulations, misrepresentation, and failure to deliver contracted services.”

Mabe has therefore been ordered to refrain from selling his Steyn City property and luxury vehicle pending his probe.
