Social Media Expert Returns to Witness Stand in Zuma Trial

Africa-Press – South-Africa. A social media expert is back in the witness stand at the trial of former uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party Member of Parliament (MP) Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla.

Zuma-Sambudla, the daughter of former President Jacob Zuma, is charged with incitement to commit public violence as well as terrorism related charges linked to the 2021 July unrest.

Three-hundred-and-fifty people died, with widespread looting and destruction happening in the country during the unrest.

Zuma-Sambudla’s trial is back in the dock for her incitement case for allegedly fuelling the 2021 July unrest riots.

The State believes she used social media to encourage looters. Social media expert Emma Sadlier is being cross-examined.

“In nowhere in my report, my Lord, did I say the phrase, ‘WE SEE YOU’, used by the accused, is always attached to violence – it is always used as a recognition, admiration, gratitude and identifier.”

Zuma-Sambudla’s party has labelled the case a political witch-hunt.
