South Africa’s solar panel rebate ends soon – Beat the deadline with LookSee

Africa-Press – South-Africa. LookSee, a subsidiary of Standard Bank, can help you install a home solar system before the government’s solar panel rebate window closes.

The rebate offers you 25% back on your solar panel expenses – up to a maximum of R15,000 – and requires that a master electrician signs off your completed installation before 29 February 2024.

Contact LookSee to get a home solar system quote.

It is important to note that the rebate does not cover batteries or inverters – it is exclusively for subsidising the installation of solar panels in your home.

Furthermore, the solar panels must be new, must have a minimum capacity of 275W per panel, and must be installed at a residence – as the government has implemented a separate rebate for businesses.

How to benefit

As we are nearing the end of January, and considering that a solar system purchase takes between two to three weeks from initial quote to the issuing of a certificate of compliance, it is vital to begin the process soon to meet the rebate deadline.

LookSee has you covered with its streamlined solar installation process – which can get your solar panels connected well before the deadline ends.

To begin your solar installation journey, visit the LookSee Solar Quote calculator and enter the necessary information to get a quote within five minutes.

You will then be contacted by LookSee’s customer care team who will help you customise the suggested solar system to meet your unique needs.

The LookSee consultant will also organise a site visit and consultation on your behalf.

This free consultation will involve a qualified installer meeting with you to determine that the solar system you wish to install is appropriate for your needs – as well as ensuring your home’s wiring is compliant, and establishing where the best place to install the solar panels is.

Once the consultation is complete, you will be sent a final quote – and at the same time, should you require funding, the LookSee customer care team will begin communicating with its Standard Bank colleagues to arrange your solar financing to pay for the installation.

For a Solar Loan application, you will need to provide the following:

Valid South African ID or Smart card.

Proof of residence not older than 3 months.

1 month’s payslip.

Last 3 months’ bank statements.

Your solar installation invoice (which LookSee will provide).

Upon accepting the final quote, and once the loan application has been approved, the installation process can begin.

Claiming your rebate

All LookSee solar system installation partners are given a strict playbook to follow – which includes everything from the types of cables and bolts that can be used to complement your high-quality system, to the installation standards that must be met.

As part of their partnership with LookSee, all installers must follow the playbook to ensure every installation meets the customer’s expectations.

A master electrician will then sign off your completed solar system, and this document can be used to claim your rebate alongside a VAT invoice that indicates the cost of the solar PV panels.

The rebate can then be claimed during the 2023/24 SARS tax filing season.

When you choose LookSee, you are guaranteed the best solar loan terms, a streamlined quotation process, and a high-quality solar installation.
