Africa-Press – South-Africa. One person was shot dead and three arrested after Free State police foiled an armed robbery at a post office.
Crime Intelligence and Free State police responded to information of a planned armed robbery at the Ventersburg Post office on Monday morning, said police spokesperson Captain Stephen Thakeng.
“The authorities caught the suspects in the act of robbery and immediately confronted them. During the turmoil, one suspect [30 years old] was fatally shot on the scene.

“The other three suspects [aged 29 to 36], who were cornered, abandoned all the cash and two handguns with ammunition and were arrested,” said Thakeng.
They will appear in court soon.
According to Thakeng, a white sedan Datsun Nissan Go was seized and preliminary investigation revealed it had been stolen in Bloemfontein in December 2021.
