Africa-Press – South-Africa. KwaZulu-Natal police are investigating the murder of a Durban taxi owner who was shot and killed on Monday.
Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said two unknown shooters pounced on the woman outside her home while she was getting out of an e-hailing vehicle.
“She fell back into the vehicle and was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the e-hailing vehicle was not injured,” he said.
Netshiunda said the motive for the murder was unknown, although police could not rule out taxi-related violence.
He said the shooters fled in a white Toyota Corolla Quest with registration number ND 698-912.
“A manhunt for the suspects is under way,” he said.
ALS paramedics said the woman, believed to be in her late 60s, sustained multiple injuries to her head and chest.
“Paramedics assessed the patient and found that she had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her chest and head and, unfortunately, there was nothing more paramedics could do for her. She was declared deceased on the scene.”
