Africa-Press – South-Africa. A family from Mpumalanga handed over to police a teenager who escaped custody.
The teen, facing robbery and attempted murder charges, escaped from the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court.
The teen was arrested on Tuesday and was scheduled to appear in court on the same day. He escaped while waiting for probation officers.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the robbery happened at the weekend in Dwarsloop, near Bushbuckridge.
The teen now faces an additional charge of escaping from lawful custody.
He will appear in the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant-General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela lauded the teen’s family.
“I hope others will learn from this action taken by the suspect’s family. If you know your family member is somehow entangled in crime, please report it to the authorities before it is too late.
“Who knows, the person you are failing to report might commit worse crimes, not to mention that he might even hurt others closer to them,” Manamela said.
