Africa-Press – South-Africa. Three people have died after the light motor vehicle they were travelling in overturned and collided with an oncoming truck on the N2 Highway in KwaZulu-Natal in the early hours on Sunday.

KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said the sedan had four occupants and was driving southbound near Mandeni north of Durban when the driver allegedly lost control.

The vehicle then overturned and rolled onto an oncoming truck.

“Three people were declared dead at the scene, and one was rushed to hospital in a critical condition,” said Netshiunda.

The cause of the accident has not yet been established and investigations are continuing.

Meanwhile, on Saturday evening, Arrive Alive reported that six people suffered serious injuries after two vehicles collided on the N2 near Marburg, also in KwaZulu-Natal.

Arrive Alive said paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found that three patients had serious injuries and three of them had minor injuries.

One of the seriously injured patients was trapped in a vehicle, and together with Ray Nkonyeni Fire and Rescue services, Paramedics stabilised and extricated the patient using specialised equipment.

The patients were transported to the hospital for further treatment.
