Africa-Press – South-Africa. City of Tshwane Deputy Mayor Eugene Modise has assured investors that the city will take a no-nonsense approach to corruption following pledges to pump funds and resources into key infrastructure projects.
Investors pledged R16 billion towards 22 projects in several sectors at yesterday (Wednesday)’s inaugural Tshwane Investment Summit.
The summit beat expectations, with investors showing appetite to partner with the city in property and construction, automotive and infrastructure projects.
The projects will be rolled out in phases with investments in the Rosslyn automotive precinct and Marabastad precinct among the first on the list.
Modise said strict protocols are in place to avoid the flouting of procurement processes.
“We are not paying lip service. We said we have attracted R16 billion and we must play our part. We have ringfenced R740 million to ensure that you, when you come in, you can [rollout] the red carpet so that your applications are not taken from pillar to post. Everything you seek, you will get. There’s no need to be afraid you’ll be labelled as corrupt when you do things correctly.”
