Africa-Press – South-Africa. The metro says the five were suspended after an internal disciplinary process found them guilty of one of the four charges they faced.

The City of Tshwane has placed five senior staff members on precautionary suspension regarding a tender awarded at the Rooiwal water treatment plant.

The metro says the five were suspended after an internal disciplinary process found them guilty of one of the four charges they faced.

The officials were charged with among others, gross negligence in the performance of their duties.

The charges relate to awarding a R290 million tender that was found to be irregular.

“A final determination was made yesterday [Friday] to place them on precautionary suspension with full pay,” said City of Tshwane metro spokesperson Selby Bokaba.

“The City is of the view that their continued presence at the workplace will be detrimental to the stability of the municipality.”
