Africa-Press – South-Africa. A prison warder was arrested, and drugs were confiscated during a raid at the St Albans Correctional Facility in Gqeberha over the weekend, Eastern Cape police said.

Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the Gqeberha K9 Unit, Anti-Gang Unit and Department of Correctional Services conducted a stop-and-search operation of vehicles and personnel entering the prison premises early on Sunday.

“During the search of a Mercedes-Benz minibus, police K9 ‘Coda’ reacted to a package, which contained drugs. Further investigation led the team to… a prison cell where more drugs – dagga, cocaine and tik – and six cellphones and three cellphone charges were seized,” she said.
