Africa-Press – South-Africa. The Richmond Hill woman who has died after being stabbed in an alleged house robbery in the early hours of this morning, August 9 in Gqeberha is a well-known local physioterapist Marolien Schmidt (40).
According to police spokesperson Capt. Sandra Janse van Rensburg, neighbours of the 40-year old woman heard her screaming as well as the breaking of glass. “They immediately responded and found her lying on the floor with stab wounds. She was rushed to hospital but succumbed to her injuries,” said Janse van Rensburg.
The incident happened around 01:40am in Sherlock Street.
According to Janse van Rensburg it was later established that the suspect gained entrance to the property by breaking a side window. It is unclear what was taken during the attack and police are investigating a murder case.
This afternoon Police Forensic Detectives were on the scene. This incident has rocked the community of Richmond Hill who has uplifted itself from inner city decay into a vibrant suburb with popular restaurants and beautifully restored historical homes.
Schmidt was a well-known local physiotherapist at the Walmer Wellness Centre. Neighbours and residents placed flowers and messages at the bright blue front door of her house. Some messages read she was not only a member of the community but a friend of the family.
