Africa-Press – South-Africa. Former president Jacob Zuma has condemned the leak of a letter confirming his move to the Constitutional Court after suffering a legal setback linked to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) cases inquiry.
Zuma is seeking to appeal a Johannesburg High Court ruling that dismissed his application to remove Justice Sisi Khampepe as chair of the commission.
Zuma and former president Thabo Mbeki, who are set to appear before the inquiry, took the matter to the high court after Khampepe refused to recuse herself.
They argue she is biased, citing her involvement in the TRC and her role in the National Prosecuting Authority.
The Jacob Zuma Foundation said the letter was intended only to meet legal requirements and was not meant for public consumption.
The foundation claims the correspondence, circulated to relevant parties, was leaked for what it calls mischievous purposes.
In his petition to the apex court, Zuma argues the matter is highly urgent and seeks direct access to the court.
He is relying on a minority judgment to support his case.
Zuma said the urgency is heightened by the inquiry, which is due to end in May.
He added shortly after losing his high court bid, the inquiry issued directives requiring action by 24 April.
He warns that this could expose him to contempt proceedings if he fails to comply.
His legal team said a Constitutional Court hearing would prevent further escalation and provide clarity.
The foundation said it will issue a full public statement when the matter is ready.
