Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Central Equatoria State Governor Adil Anthony has announced a crackdown on illegal structures and unsafe petrol stations within Juba City.
The move follows a recent fire at a petrol station in the Hai Salam residential area.
The governor warned illegal occupants within the custom market and other areas to vacate immediately or face legal consequences.
He also directed city authorities and security forces to implement the order swiftly to reduce littering.
“The state government plans to review all mapped petrol stations within Juba City that fail to meet the required safety standards of operations,” Adil said.
Additionally, the government is suspending activities on the Nile River that are considered environmentally hazardous.
Hotel owners near the river have been warned against pollution or the risk of facing legal action.
