Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Authorities in the Abyei Special Administrative Area are reporting that at least 10 people have been killed and seven others wounded in a series of attacks allegedly carried out by armed youth from neighboring Warrap State.

Abyei government secretary-general Arou Manyiel Arou told the Sudans Post on Sunday morning that the first attack occurred at 8:00 AM in Agok, resulting in the deaths of four individuals.

Arou further stated that yesterday’s attack on Athony claimed the lives of three people, and another attack this morning in Wauacin village resulted in the deaths of three more individuals.

“In total, these attacks have resulted in the deaths of approximately 10 people, with seven others wounded,” Arou stated.

Warrap State information minister William Wol denied any knowledge of the attacks when contacted, stating that they have not received any official complaint from the Abyei government.

“We have not received any official communication regarding this matter, and we are unaware of any attacks or fighting taking place in Abyei by youth from Warrap State,” Wol told Sudans Post.

These latest clashes in Abyei come less than two weeks after a previous round of deadly fighting that resulted in the deaths of at least 32 people.

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) has urged the government to investigate the conflict and bring those responsible to justice.
