Africa-Press – South-Sudan. At least three people have been reportedly killed and an unknown number of cattle stolen in Cueibet County by suspected armed raiders from neighboring Rumbek North County of Lakes State.

The Payam administrator of Abiriu Payam, Cueibet County Laat Marial Wul told Radio Tamazuj that two cattle owners from Cueibet County and one raider from Rumbek North were killed in the clashes.

Marial said a huge herd of cattle was stolen.

“The raided cattle are from three sections of the Gok community of Waat, Kongor, and Pagok. It is a lot of cattle that have been raided and I cannot estimate their number. I am waiting for the chiefs who have gone to the scene of the incident to bring us a report,” he said.

For his part, Lakes State information minister William Koji Kerjok told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that the raided cattle must be returned and criminals charged.

“The raided cows must be returned by the security forces to the rightful owners and such an incident should not happen again,” he added.

He said the state has dispatched forces to investigate the deadly raid and avert further clashes.
