Africa-Press – South-Sudan. At least 35 juveniles were released from reformatory school at Juba Central Prison after First Lady Mary Ayen cleared their debts.
The released insensitive led by First Lady Mary Ayen Mayardit on August 12.
The inmate who served various prison terms were accused of minor cases.
The Director of Juba Central Prison Atok Atem Barach says there is a number of juveniles in the reformatory school who will be released soon after the court finalized their status.
“The effort made by the First Lady to pay the fines, the stolen phone, or the stolen computer was not easy,” said Atok Atem.
“It is assumed that the number of those who will be released is greater than this,” she added.
“According to some procedures in the court, we will release them upon completion of the procedures I would tell you to go to school and stay out of trouble.”
For her part, The Executive Director in the Office of the First Lady, Naomi Adhieu Mawan calls on the children to refrain from criminal activities and be useful members of society.
“I would like to tell you that you are our children, some of you spent two years in prison without going to school, you could have benefited from this period and made some money,” Adhiew said.
“If one of you has stolen, he should not steal again. Get out now from prison and try to start a new life.”
However, the official didn’t mention the amount paid for bailing out the juveniles.
