Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The County Commissioner of Tonj East in South Sudan’s Warrap State says 400 head of cattle were raided by suspected armed youth from Rumbek North County of Lakes State on Tuesday.
John Deng Kok told Radio Tamazuj that no one was killed or injured in the raid as the attackers demanded the cattle owners to either surrender their cattle or lose their lives.
“Between Tonj East and Rumbek North, the security is not certain. On 22 of February this year, 400 cattle were taken by Maper youth of Rumbek North County,” Deng said. “My people were forced to hand their cattle to the youth of Maper or they die if they do not do so.”
Commissioner Deng further accused the youth from Rumbek North County of raiding about 200 heads of cattle last Saturday, saying no cow has been recovered since.
Lakes State authorities were not immediately available for comment.
