Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Executive Director of the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) Edmund Yakani called on the presidency to assess the implementation of the resolution of the 6th Governors Forum.
The 6th Governor’s Forum conducted last year drew a remarkable 52 resolutions and 83 recommendations on matters of social services, development, peace, conflict prevention, and good and democratic governance.
According to CEPO reports compiled from January to June, over 80 per cent of the 52 agreed-upon resolutions and 83 recommendations were not implemented, rendering the forum a misuse of taxpayers’ money.
The governor’s forum is always conducted annually with the hope that South Sudan’s leaders will improve their performances at all levels.
Yesterday, Yakani appealed to the presidency to assess the performances of state governors and the chief administrators with regard to the previous 6th Governor’s Forum resolutions.
“The CEPO observatory strongly recommended the office of the president urgently commission a field assessment mission to the states and administrative areas to evaluate the implementation of the 6th State Governors and Chief Administrator Forum resolutions and recommendations,” Yakani said.
He claimed that the governors and officials who attended the forum put the resolutions in the trash, saying there is a need to check on their performances.
According to the CEPO report, out of ten state governors, only three are trying to engage in effective implementation of the 6th State Governors and Chief Administrator Forum resolutions.
It stated that the dissemination of the 6th State Governors and Chief Administrators Forum resolutions is very low in terms of implementation.
