Africa-Press – South-Sudan. South Sudan’s humanitarian agencies are expected to conduct a humanitarian coordinated forum today to discuss the country’s humanitarian situation and response plans.
The closed-door forum which is scheduled in the afternoon is organized by the ministry of humanitarian affairs and disaster management as preparedness to face the 2023 rainy season.
Since the onset of the floods in July 2020, South Sudan has been experiencing horrific flooding for three years row.
According to the latest update from the United Nations, more than 835,000 people in 33 of South Sudan’s 78 counties have been affected.
Jonglei, Unity and Upper Nile States remain the worst impacted States with some 80 percent of the total cumulated number of people affected.
Already the World Bank has ranked South Sudan seventh globally on the list of the world’s most vulnerable countries to climate change.
