Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Deputy Governor of Warrap State, Aluel Garang, pledged to support women’s football in the country.

This followed her meeting with the visiting South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) officials on Wednesday in Kuajok.

The meeting discussed the recruitment of talented young women at the grassroots to create a better foundation for women’s national teams.

In a statement released by the SSFA, Deputy Governor Aluel, well known as “Aluel Messi”, who had previously played for the South Sudan women’s national team, applauded the SSFA President and his leadership for “initiative” towards women’s football.

She commended the successes of the leadership and pledged to support women’s football development in Warrap State.

The chairperson of the National Competitions Committee, Wiyual Lam, said the SSFA was eager to cooperate with the state government to develop football and bring infrastructure for the growth of football in Warrap State.

Also, the visiting officials had a meeting with the Acting Minister of Youth and Sports and members of the Kuajok Local Football Association before attending a friendly match in Kuajok Freetown Square.

The delegates of SSFA officials are expected to proceed to Wau with the same programmes.
