Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The US Ambassador to South Sudan Michael J. Adler is calling on South Sudanese to seek freedom and democracy.

Ambassador Adler made the remakes at the celebration of the country’s 247th Independence Anniversary in Juba on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.

The U.S. diplomat says Americans took a long journey to achieve their independence.

He said it is his wish for the people of South Sudanese to achieve a peaceful transition in 2024 and establish a stable, prosperous, and peaceful democratic country.

“My wish for the South Sudanese people is to succeed, in the achievement of peace commitments during the transitional period, to establish a stable, prosperous, and peaceful democracy,” Ambassador Adler said.

“As a partner of the United States, and all others who are fighting for justice around the world of democracy, may South Sudanese people, make it, protect it, and pass it on.”

Vice President Abdelbagi Ayii and the acting Foreign Affairs Minister were among many dignitaries who attended the commemoration of the 247th Independence Anniversary of Americans in Juba.

On July 4, 1776, thirteen American colonies broke their political connection to the Kingdom of Great Britain by declaring independence.

The Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Second Continental Congress at the Pennsylvania State House in Philadelphia.
