Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The African National Congress (ANC) says it will begin the process of resetting the Government of National Unity (GNU) over the next two weeks.
The party’s highest decision-making structure in between conferences, the national executive committee, recently adopted a motion to expand the government of national unity.
However, this has not gone down well with some parties in the GNU, who say adding more organisations into the coalition will exacerbate its problems.
At a media briefing in Johannesburg on Tuesday, ANC secretary-general, Fikile Mbalula, said the party would take into consideration the concerns of its GNU partners.
“We’ve got to visit the statement of intent and a whole lot of other issues, so in the next two weeks, we are going to be engaged in intense discussions. We will also engage with those who are not part of the GNU and that’s what’s important for us but resetting the button means talking to everyone.”
