The Archbishop of Central Equatoria Province, Bishop Paul Benjamin Yugusuk, has been appointed as the new Dean of the Province of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan, according to a declaration seen by Eye Radio.

According to the church, the Dean of the Province is the second-highest leader after the Primate Dr. Justin Badi Arama.

The dean is entrusted with supporting the unity, governance, and pastoral mission of the Church.

Bishop Yugusuk is the current Archbishop of the Central Equatoria Internal Province.

His appointment follows a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Province of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan held yesterday at the church guest house.

He will succeed the outgoing dean, Rev. Alaphayo Manyang Kutel, who is also the Archbishop of Eastern Bahar El Gazal Internal Province and Bishop of Rumbek, following his retirement on January 1, 2026.

According to sources, the new dean will officially assume office when Primate Arama announces his appointment.
