Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The First Deputy Speaker of the Council of States, Mary Ayen, appealed to President Salva Kiir to promote the Ruweng Special Administrative Area to a state.

Ayen said the Ruweng area has a large number of holders of various academic degrees and vast lands that would enable it to flourish as a state. “Ruweng Administrative Area has a large area and is adjacent to the states of Upper, Jonglei , Warrap ,Unity, Abyei Special Administrative,’’ she noted. ‘‘The administrative area has all the specifications and conditions of the population and the various resources that make it befit a full state.”

She was delivering a speech at the conclusion of the Ruweng community dialogue, which took place for four days at the Crown Hotel in Juba.

Ayen called on the Senior Presidential Advisor, Kuol Manyang Juk, to convince President Kiir to make the administrative change. “If the administrative area is promoted to a state, then all or most of these people will find job opportunities, as some of them will work in various jobs in the new state,’’ she argued. Kuol appealed to the citizens of Ruweng to unite and champion development projects if the dream of elevating the status of the area is to be realised.

” There is a country in the United Nations now with a population of 10,000 people. As for the Ruweng administrative area, it can be promoted to a full state because of the large land and population and the resources you possess, so you must go to the administrative and present what you can offer to your administrative.
