Africa-Press – South-Sudan. A bodyguard attached to SPLM-IO Division Nine Commander is nursing injuries following Thursday’s attack on the residence of General Simon Samuel Asolomon by unknown people.
The bodyguard is currently recuperating at a local hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound.
The assailants launched a surprise attack at Gen Asolomon’s house in the capital, Yambio suburb, at around 2 am, Friday.
“We are still collecting more details and will communicate to the media later,” Isaac Mursal, the state Minister of Information told City Review.
A boda boda rider was also injured in the melee though City Review could not independently verify why or what he was doing in the besieged compound at the time of the incident.
“The bodyguard was shot alongside a boda-boda rider who also received a gunshot on the head,” a source who wished to remain anonymous told City Review.
The attackers’ identity and motive remain unknown.
In 2021, the house of the former minister of information, now the current finance minister’s house was attacked. His bodyguard was wounded in the process.
