Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The government of Jonglei State has shut down Bor College over land ownership.
The state also ordered the administration to vacate the school premises.
In a letter seen by The City Review dated May 26, 2022, and signed by Jonglei State Minister of Cabinet Affairs, the state ordered for the immediate relocation of Bor College from Michael Majok Mach School.
The acting governor of Jonglei State, Tuong Majok Deng, urged the school administration to comply with the order so that it does not disrupt the plan of the ministry of education.
“The premise occupied by Bor College High School is government property belonging to Michael Majok Mach Aluong Primary School, under the State Ministry of Education and General Instruction,” Tuong stated.
Tuong ordered the deployment of the police to immediately implement the directive.
Mabior Atem Mabior, the Managing Director of Bor College High School, said they are ready to comply with the order.
“The school board will sit to see what to be done and we are waiting for one of our shareholders and if he arrives we will see what to do and where to relocate the school assets to resume our normal duties,” Mabior said.
He confirmed that the school is currently under the control of police authorities until Bor College evacuates its assets and hands over the premises to the ministry of education.
