Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Warrap State Information Minister said on Friday, the security situation is calm after eleven people were killed and 15 others wounded during a communal conflict in Tonj East early this week.

The conflict which erupted on Tuesday between Luac-jang and Jalwou communities at the Panyan-Bec cattle ground was reportedly triggered by cattle raiding incident.

The casualties were from both sides of the conflict.

Minister William Wol Mayom said the state government has dispatched security forces to the area following the clashes, to quell tension.

“Of course after the incident, the forces that were stationed at Ngap-Agook Payam were instructed by the governor to the scene and they have calmed the situation into normality and there is peaceful coexistence by now,’ Wol said.

The trigger of the communal conflict, in an area that has reportedly achieved a successful voluntary disarmament, is not certain.
