Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The newly appointed governor of Central Equatoria State, General Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, on Wednesday reaffirmed his commitment to fight insecurity and drive development in the state.
Speaking during his inaugural address on Wednesday, Gen. Mujung underscored the importance of social cooperation and collective effort in building a stronger and more inclusive state.
“This service goes hand in hand with the duty of our parliament to promote unity and social cooperation among all communities in Central Equatoria. Our collective success depends entirely on our willingness to work together and welcome one another,” he said.
Mujung acknowledged the heavy burden placed on public institutions and urged renewed commitment to the public good.
“I fully understand the challenges we face in sustaining services for our people. But this must not be an excuse to normalize corruption, especially at the expense of our citizens and international development partners. We must remain committed to transparency and accountability.”
He attributed the lack of development and job opportunities to insecurity in the state.
“It is my firm belief that the roots of insecurity are tied to underdevelopment. If we are truly committed to change, we must address the economic and political grievances that drive people to violence. We are determined to bring peace by implementing legitimate agreements and reintegrating those who took up arms.”
He also reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
“These are not privileges—they are fundamental rights of our citizens,” he said. “We must not rely solely on government taxes to meet these needs. It is crucial that we work collaboratively and strengthen our partnerships, both locally and internationally.”
He vowed to enhance cooperation with allies, including the United States and other national and regional partners, to continue making meaningful progress in the state.
Meanwhile, outgoing Governor General Augustino Jadallah pledged to support his successor, promising to work hand in hand with Governor Mujung to ensure the continued development and stability of Central Equatoria State.
