Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) has the South Sudan East African Community legislators for their recent to Juba saying the initiative is pivotal to sensitising the people about regional affairs. CEPO’s Executive Director, Edmund Yakani said there needs to be more of such visits because it would open avenues for achieving an informed society on regional matters.
Yakani challenged the government to demonstrate steadfastness in supporting the calls to champion the EAC activities to open up opportunities for the South Sudanese.
‘‘Our government should be pro-active in showing its efforts of supporting regional reintegration to the regional body (EAC),’’ he stated in a press release yesterday.
He lamented the country’s lapse of commitment when it comes to maintaining robust membership of regional organizations such as the EAC bloc. ‘‘The only disappointing situation about our EAC membership and other regional bodies is the lack of compliance for timely payment of membership subscription fee.
‘‘It will be impressive if our government demonstrates compliance for timely subscription fee payment. Reintegration is a good strategy of sharing human resources and economic opportunities,’’ Yakani stated.
