Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Speaker of the Reconstituted Transitional National Legislative Assembly (R-TNLA), Jemma Nunu Kumba, yesterday briefed President Salva Kiir Mayardit, about the status of the constitutional amendments which she said had been completed.
According to the statement released by the office of the President, the Speaker briefed the President on the progress of the bills tabled at the Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA).
She noted that all the amendments were completed but the bills on security, the constitution-making process and political parties would be finalised next week.
“Right. Hon. Jemma Nunu Kumba said, all the amendments of the constitution concerning the Revitalised Peace Agreement have been completed,” read the statement from the office of the President.
“The bills on security, national constitution-making process and political party are being discussed by the parliament and hopefully they would be finalised next week to facilitate the implementation of the Revitalised Peace Agreement.”
Bill tabled
In April, the Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Ruben Madol Arol presented the bill for the permanent constitution-making process, 2022 to the Transitional National Legislative Assembly for deliberations.
The bill will be a furrow towards the process of the permanent constitution-making as it comprised four chapters according to article 6.9.
