Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The security monitoring body CTSAMVM revealed plans to close down verification teams in Jonglei and Eastern Equatoria due to a shortage of funds.

In his opening remarks at the 39th CTSAMVM Board Meeting in Juba on Tuesday, the body’s chairperson, Maj. Gen. Hailu Gonfa Eddosa, revealed that the body would have closed down two groups due to a reduction in donor support.

“We were planning to close two monitoring and verification teams. MVTs Torit and Bor are in the process of being closed,” he said.

Hailu, however, noted that the verification team in other areas would come in to cover up those areas affected by the plan.

“I can assure you that these areas will continue to be covered by other MVTs,” he said.

He added that CTSAMVM is now reduced to six Monitoring and Verification Teams (MVTs).

“We have a robust and flexible operations team, and I am confident that CTSAMVM will be able to continue to operate effectively,” he promised.
