Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The presidential advisor for peace, Gen David Reath Malual Luak is dead.

Luak reportedly passed on the sidelines of Lou Nuer Peace Conference that was being held in Juba, according to the office of the First Vice President.

The conference was to evaluate the results of the three-day Lou conference that was held on March 2–4, 2023, in Freedom Hall.

Luak who was said to be asthmatic, reportedly passed on while being attended to by doctors after he suffered an attack during the meeting.

“The late David Reath Malual was a hero of the liberation struggle for self-determination and independence for South Sudan,” said Riek Machar in his condolence message.

“On behalf of the entire movement and people of South Sudan, I am conveying our condolences to his family, relatives, and friends; may God rest his soul in eternal peace,” Machar expresses.

Luak’s died on the same day when the body of former deputy minister of interior Salva Mathok arrived in the country from Thailand.

Mathok died last week in Bangkok where he was flown for specialised​​ treatment. He will be buried on Wednesday in his rural home in Warrap State.
