Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Minister of Interior is encouraging women in political parties to work hard and contribute to ensuring free, fair, and credible elections in the year 2024.
Angelina Teny emphasizes the important role women can play in the upcoming elections.
She adds that their contribution to internal democratic processes within their parties will encourage more women and sectors of society to participate in elections.
Angelina Teny spoke during the annual women’s conference on Peace and Security in Juba, on October 25.
“You as women within your own political parties have to work hard to ensure that your internal democratic processes contribute to free fair and credible elections that will ensure the participation of women and other sectors of the society,” Angelina said.
“I know it is challenging that is why you are all quiet but it is good and has to be talked about and these are important lessons to talk about if we are to correct ourselves,” she said.
The two-day conference drawing women leaders and activists aims at discussing challenges facing women in South Sudan.
