Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The National Democratic Movement on Saturday appealed to the unity government to grant equal and fair opportunities for all political parties ahead of the 2024 presidential elections.
The group, on June 24, launched it its head office in Juba for the first time since it was formed.
Addressing the ceremony, NDM Spokesperson Mahmoud Abdelrahaman Akot said a fair and transparent election means political parties are provided equal space to sell their objectives.
“Elections is the only way to create a government elected by the people, and in order for the elections to be free and fair, freedoms and a political atmosphere must be provided that lead the country to free and transparent elections,” Mr. Akot said.
“This is to ensure that opportunities are equal and fair for all parties in to carry out their peaceful activities.”
He appealed to the peace parties to speedup the implementation of the provisions of the Revitalized Peace Agreement including the security arrangement, restructuring of commissions and the making of a new constitution.
“I also appeal to the non-signatory parties to the agreement to join the peace and contribute to the development of the country.”
