Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Formidable El Merriekh of Bentiu will battle Zone A champions Gonzaga FC of Rumbek, while Jamus FC Juba will take on Nasir’s Wanding FC from 18th to 19th February, according to the semi-final draw of South Sudan Cup.
The fixtures published on South Sudan Football Association’s Facebook page, unveil an exciting setup of four of South Sudan’s strongest football clubs, and fans are yearning to see the best of the bests.
El-Merriekh FC Bentiu reached the semifinals after they were crowned champions of Zone B qualification tournament after beating Jamus FC 3-1 on February 7.
Gonzaga FC Rumbek also secured a ticket to the elites’ stage when they became the champions of Zone A in Aweil and Wanding topped Zone C in Renk.
Jamus FC Juba, the runners up of Zone B tournament managed to eliminated Zone A runners-up Tiger FC Kuajok to join the semifinalists.
El-Merriekh FC Bentiu will face off against Gonzaga FC Rumbek in the first semi-final first leg match scheduled for February 18, 2024, while Jamus FC Juba and Wanding FC Nasir, will clash on February 19, 2024.
The second legs competition will resume on February 21, 2024, for Gonzaga FC Rumbek against El Merriekh FC Bentiu, and Wanding against Jamus on February 22, 2024.
None of the four semi-finalists has won the South Sudan cup title in their history, meaning, they will be looking to win their first title at the national level.
