Africa-Press – South-Sudan. A former senior opposition official who was defected a year ago has decided once again to rejoin the main armed opposition Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) led by First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny.

Lual Awach Dut last year defected from the SPLM-IO and joined the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) party led by President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

In a statement addressed to the public, the senior SPLM member said he has decided to rejoin the opposition group and noted that there were differences between him and some members of the SPLM-IO but then decided to forgive them.

“I hope this statement finds you healthy, I know many of you may wonder what happened to me again to rejoin back SPLM/A 10 leadership under visionary chairman Cde Dr. Rick Machar Teny. I do believe that many of you know the capability of Dr. Machar to build peaceful and prosperous south Sudan in the nearest future,” he said in the statement.

“As majority of you know Dr. Riek Machar is great leader who build young people politically to be the next future leaders of South Sudan. I have decided to resign from SPLM Led Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit and rejoin SPLM /A 10 under great political mentor H.E Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon visionary chairman and first vice president of Republic. Despite the fact that there are political differences between me and the rest of fellow comrades’ in SPLM/A IO NBG-S under leadership of Cde Hon. Aweng Ibrahim Akoon I hope it’s great time for me to forgive them and begin new political Direction,” he added.

He further thanked the SPLM “under Hon. Tong Akeen Ngor Governor of NBGS for shorten time that I have spent with you and acknowledge your efforts and commitment of delivering services to our people of northern Bhar el Ghazal state,.”

“In conclusion I have taken this bold decision to re-join SPLM A-10 to support the ideas of a prosperous South Sudan, I ask my fellow people to support my decision and join hands for a better South Sudan.”
